Scriptures and Quotes

These are just a few of the things I've read over and over. If you sent me one of these scriptures or quotes, then thank you. I have read a wonderful book that I would recommend to any who has lost or knows someone who has lost a child. My sister's friend, Paige, gave it to me in January and I've read it twice already and keep it with me to help me through the really bad days. Safe in the Arms of God by John MacArthur

I know that many people face difficult times in life and many of these Bible verses can be applied to many situations. I hope they can be of comfort to others as well.

Pslam 31:14-15a But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I will say ' YOU are my God.' My times are in Your hands.

Isaiah 27:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Isa. 43:1b I have called you by YOUR name: You are mine

Psalm 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings:put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? "God sees, knows and records in writing all our troubles, distresses and sufferings. Every tear shed by a faithful believer is treasured by God and carefully preserved in His memory. He keeps record so that He can comfort and reward us according to our suffering on earth. For every trial in which we remain faithful to God, we will reap an abundance of joy and glory when we are with Him in heaven. Thus when troubles, anxieties or grievous trials come our way, we must never forget that God looks at us lovingly through all our disappointing experiences, illnesses, sleepless nights, financial trials or hardships in the workplace."

  1. God's word is perfect. Always providing insight into life's mysteries. Today, I pray you are able to get some rest and come to a decision about school. Thanks too for Psalm 56:8 - very powerful. I think of you often, pray for you many times throughout the day, share your story and ask for others to pray too, and read your blog through tears of love. By His grace, Alexis

  2. Johnna,

Life is so unpredictable and I know it is very hard for you to understand what you are having to go through. I just wanted to take a minute and tell you that I teach a women's Bible Study group at my church and we have prayed for you and Jeremy each week now since you were diagnosed. All the women await your update and we have cried together over your situation. I don't know why God is allowing this to happen to you, but I do know that there is a reason and someday you will know and understand that reason. Your baby is a gift from God and I admire the way you and Jeremy and your family has handled the decisions that you have had to make...I often wonder if I would have done the same things and am encouraged by your faith. If there is anything that I can do for you, please don't hesistate to let me know!

    Love in Christ,
    Jill

  5. Johnna and Jeremy,
I have prayed for you and your family repeatedly and I will continue to pray for all of you. I love you all. Through the past year God has taught me to live for the moment and to stop worrying about every little thing. I am a bit of a control freak and it has always been difficult for me to let go and believe that God will take care of everyone and everything. Through our family's difficult times with John I learned to remember that God is in control and that I should stop worrying. John's life is a miracle and I feel as though I have been given a gift from God because I have learned to accept God's will and to live in the moment. When Brittany told me her news I thought well I don't know why this has happened but God has a reason. I didn't become upset with her. I just said well you will have to grow-up and please promise me you will go back to school. I'm still not sure of God's purpose in that situation but I know there is one. I was prepared by my heavenly father through our ordeal with John to accept God's will with Brittany. I have prayed for a miracle with Elizabeth Ann. I will continue to pray for one. She is a miracle no matter what God's will is. She was prayed for and loved from the moment you all knew about her. I truly believe that God already has allowed her to know how much she is loved and wanted. Please know that all of your band students and parents understand that your child is all you can think about and that is as it should be. We all love you and want you to know we support you and your family. We want to respect you and your family's need for family time.

    Love,
    Rene'

  6. Can't sleep, have you on my heart. I've been praying and praying. I know your hearts are broken and I pray God Himself holds your broken heart together. I pray He send His angels to sit beside you so you may feel His comfort and strength. I'm sorry isn't good enough, there are no words to express how I hurt for you. Ken and I love you both. We're here for whatever whenever.

  7. Johnna,
I am one of the many people who do not know you personally (I work with the mom of one of the girls on your flag team), but are thinking about you and your family and praying for peace and comfort through this unimaginable time in your life. I hope that you and your family feel the presence of God's comforting arms around you as many of us lift you up in prayer. You are not alone.

It is really amazing the hard times we are able to endure with God's help. Otherwise it would not be possible. We love you guys! As many have said, let us know if you need anything. May God continue to shower you all with the Peace that passes understanding!
